B-F-P Takes Their Hat Off To The
Festival
For Leaving The pink Industry For Its Own Individuality To Do The Right Thing!
The Pink paper Reported: The Organisers of the BIG Gay Out- the music party which followed the 2004 London Pride parade- have announced they are splitting away to become a stand-alone event. Insiders at Faceparty, the website which paid for the party, frustrated at some negative publicity they got this year - which they blame on the event being part of Pride.
They feel it became politicised and controversial, even though the party was a hit with those who did attend it. Next year and in the future, the event will be on a sepArate day - designed to be a stand alone "credible music festival" which will raise money for gay charities and organisations. Faceparty's owner Dave Bamforth complained Pride didn't "do any good" in terms of raising money for gay groups and organisations. He added: I feel Pride is dying, it doesn't seem to know what it is. "But at Big Gay Out I am trying to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for gay charities."
Bamforth claims the event cost him £1.4 million this year after attracting smaller crowed's than originally hoped for. but he insists he is determined to continue with what he sees as a charitable project. And he pledges Pride will still be one of the Big Gay Out beneficiaries despite the split. The date of the next event is not yet known..
Well Done Dave Bamforth!, The Big Gay Out is the only commercial community event that really works more for charity than any other... Keep it up!
