The Tate Modern LGBT History Month Presentation
December 2004 / by Jonathan J Joslin
Lesbian, Gay Bisexual & Transgendered History Month presented the opening of its website at the Tate modern, supported and set up by Sue Sanders & Schools Out! National, with a social drinks gathering of activists and LGBT groups.
Well put together and thanks to free space offered by the Tate supporting social inclusion of minorities in education issues, the presentation was a success. The presentation headed by Sue Sanders with a panel of LGBT groups heads and activists and politicians and a celebrity to promote issues that the new LGBT History Month website is looking to indorse and teach.
Unfortunately, because of offered free space at the Tate, this free pace came at the price of a very short time limit of which they were allowed to give the presentation opening. But all in all it went very well apart from each panel member having about five minutes to cram in everything they wanted to say and inevitably being cut short without anyone finishing their presentations, and a couple of got quite pissed off because of it. But never mind, it still worked well and the message was given.
The new LGBT History month will be starting in February 2005 and the main website is already up and running even though the site is still in construction. After the History month is over, the LGBT history month website will continue to educate for the rest of the year.
